The BBC has just announced that the Time Group, manufacturers of the Tiny and Time computer systems has gone into administration.
Many customers have yet to receive goods that were paid for. Staff have not received their wages at the 80 shops across the UK. All of these shops have now been closed. A helpline has been set up to provide information: 0870 381 7097
As someone who has struggled to fix Tiny/Time computers in the past, I can't say this news upsets me. They did manage to excel at building systems which were, to pick one of the better words, 'challenging'. However this must be terrible for customers and staff who have been left in the lurch.
What is completely unforgivable though is that the Time website is open and apparently still accepting orders…
Updated:
The Time web site has been shut down at about 4 pm GMT 28/07/05 . A message has been placed there stating the company is in administration and all other pages are returning a 404. Good move but you have to wonder why this took so long. It hardly installs public confidence in e-commerce when people see this kind of thing happen. The web site is simply another shop and should have been closed at the same time as their offline equivalents.
