Here’s another:
Project: First of many - forum scraper
I’m building 5 websites FAST, and I need a good programmer or two.
I am a knowledgeable technologist with a lot of experience in this stuff. I just don’t have the time.
Here’s the first (and test) project:
I need a script that will go to the forum section of the site I specify (use Sitepoint as an example).
http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=164
The first time this is run I want it to grab all of the thread names for the past week.
After that I want to grab all of the thread names since the last time the program was run. Then I want it to grab the #1 entry in the thread and save both pieces of information in a database.
Please include code and a page that will allow me to scroll through entries I haven’t seen yet.
Part two is that I want to make an RSS feed of the thread name and corresponding URL. Please price this separately.
Please send an email to projects@xxxxxxxx.com if you are interested. You will get this info back and I will have your email.
We will own the script and you will sign an NDA.
Err..heads up Sitepoint eh? Having been accused of participating in that "notoriously evil den of self-outed spammers" that is Threadwatch I can tell you - it’s got nothing on job requests like these.
This isn’t a blackhat/whitehat thing, it’s a stupid thing. I don’t know any serious marketing professionals these days who work by scraping forums and spamming blogs. Let alone advertise for the work publicly. And don’t get me started on Russian/Indian programmers who are helping get their country IP block banned for $30…
You have to wonder how many of these idiots signed up with the same email on their Adsense account?
